Brie Tarts |
As I mentioned here, this is a creation that was inspired by a recipe posted by one of my blogger friends, Akward Kichenette. I find her stories amusing and admire how she's juggling being a mom of 3 under the age of 3 while learning to cook, which she seams to be doing well.
The idea of cutting out flower shapes for the dough comes from another blogger, but for the life of me, I cannot remember who it is. (I even commented on her post about how I loved the idea and was going to incorporate her idea into one of my posts). I apologize to that blogger and if you happen to read this post, please be sure to drop me a note and I will gladly credit your idea and add a link to your post.
Back to the recipe...
This is one VERY delicious appetizer! It received so many compliments on the first try that I had to make them again. I've created a savoury version using onions, a sweet version using cream cheese and jam, as well as our ultimate favourite version using tomatoes and reggiano parmesan cheese.
These were so fast and easy to make that I didn't even mind using the President's Choice store bought pastry dough. It helped getting the tarts onto the table faster. The only downfall is waiting for the dough to defrost and that's not really a downfall! Wouldn't you agree?

DeleteThose look marvelous, Ellen. I think I have something similar on one of my Pinterest boards so you've chosen something I'd love to make!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara. I'll have to try and find your board to see if that's the other blogger that helped inspire this recipe and give credit if that be the case.
DeleteThese look wonderful! I've got something similar pinned in Pinterest....now someone has made them and says they're as good as they look. Can't wait to try them.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Barbara. I received an email from one of my Twitter followers that included a picture of the Brie tarts she made on Friday night. She also made them with a variety of different fillings and added some diced up peppers to the parmesan and tomato filling and appreciated how quick and easy they were to make.
DeleteOh my! This is going to be my favorite of all time! These sound so yummy! I have to make them this weekend! The only problem is I am going to want to eat them all up! LOL! Have a great weekend Ellen, Pam
