Tip On Basil

Pasta in Pesto Sauce
Pesto is probably the quickest and easiest sauce to make.  It takes less time to prepare the pesto sauce than it takes for the pasta to boil.  All you have to do is toss the sauce, pasta and cheese together in a bowl and voila, you've got pasta in pesto sauce.

TIP on BASIL:  When planting a vegetable garden, be sure to include a few basil plants amongst the veggie plants.  Bugs will be attracted to the basil instead of your crop.

    1. I'm not sure exactly. I think the scent and taste of the basil leaves are so much stronger than that of a tomato plant. I used to keep my herb garden off to the side and my tomatoes plants would get infested with bugs. Not this year. In fact, I'll find about 15 bugs all on 1 basil leaf. I'm so glad I got this tip and only wanted to share once I was able to confirm its truth.

  8. Now that is a great tip. I know from trying to grow basil that the pests love it, so I think I should give up on trying to grow it for itself and use it as pest control. Pasta, pesto and cheese is such a simple but tasty dish.

    1. Makes me wonder if that's why it's called PESTo sauce. (Food for thought) :)
