Cherry Pie
There are some things that are worth turning your oven on during this summer heat, especially when you get to enjoy a piece of pie with a scoop of ice cream on the side.
This is my mother-in-laws homemade cherry pie recipe that she often made for us when she'd come and visit during the summer. We used to go over to my parents' to pick our own fresh supply of cherries from their backyard cherry tree.
Oh, the smell of cherry pie baking...
INGREDIENTS for Pie Crust:
250 grams Flour
100 grams Butter
1 tsp Sugar
2 Egg (only put 1 whole + 1 yolk in dough mixture, reserve 1 egg white for egg wash)
pinch Salt
Creme Fraiche (to moisten dough, if too hard when kneading)
Filling:
Cherries (pitted and halved)
Envelope of Vanilla Sugar
Cinnamon
Dark Brown Sugar (Cassonade)
Bread Crumbs or Starch
